📚 Formula breakdown & interpretation

How the Today’s Good Vibes Score works (simple explanation)

This calculator uses a small, transparent formula to turn your name, today’s date and your chosen mood into a 0–100 Good Vibes Score. It is intentionally not scientific – the goal is to give you a fun, repeatable daily check-in that feels satisfying to screenshot, share and compare.

Step 1 – Turning your name into a base “energy” number
  • Every letter in your name is mapped to a number (A=1, B=2, … Z=26).
  • The calculator adds those letter values together to get a base name score.
  • Longer names are lightly normalised so they don’t always dominate shorter ones.
Step 2 – Blending in today’s date
  • The current day, month and weekday are converted into small numeric factors.
  • These numbers nudge your name score up or down in a predictable way.
  • Result: the same name will feel slightly different from one day to another – like a “daily card pull”.
Step 3 – Mood boost or vibe tax
  • Your selected mood (chill, excited, tired, stressed, etc.) applies a bonus or gentle “tax”.
  • For example, “excited & hyped” and “grateful & soft” get positive boosts, while “tired” or “stressed” slightly reduce the score.
  • The point isn’t to punish low moods – it’s to reflect that some days naturally feel more energised than others.
Step 4 – Tiny randomness for uniqueness
  • A very small, letter-based random nudge is added so that repeated checks on the same day can vary by a few points.
  • This makes the tool feel more alive and less “fixed” without destroying the underlying pattern.
  • The final number is clipped between 0 and 100 and rounded to a clean whole number.
How to read your Good Vibes Score
  • 85–100: High-energy, main-character day – strong motivation, great for bold moves and creative stuff.
  • 70–84: Solid vibes – good focus, decent energy, small tasks feel easier to start.
  • 50–69: Mixed but manageable – some tired or messy edges, but still okay overall.
  • 0–49: Low-battery day – nothing is wrong with you; you just need extra gentleness and rest where possible.

Use the explanation text as a reflective prompt, not a verdict. If the score is high, ask yourself: “How can I use a little of this energy wisely?”. If it’s low, ask: “How can I be 5–10% kinder to myself today?”.

Frequently Asked Questions
  • Is this an accurate measure of my mental health?

No. This is a playful, letter-and-date-based formula. It is not a diagnostic tool, mood tracker or replacement for professional care.

  • Why does changing my mood selection change the score?

The mood dropdown applies small boosts or reductions to reflect how your body and mind often respond on different days. It’s meant to mirror real life, not override it.

  • Can a low score ruin my day?

Absolutely not. If you get a low score, treat it as permission to go slower, drink water, take breaks and be kinder to yourself – not as a curse.

  • Does a high score mean everything will go perfectly?

Also no. A high number is just a fun “energy weather” forecast. Real days still need boundaries, common sense and rest.

  • Is any of my data sent to a server?

The calculation runs in your browser, and saved results stay in local storage on this device. There is no login and no cloud account behind this tool.

🛡️ Safety & sharing tips

Best practices for sharing your Good Vibes Score

Good Vibes Scores are made for screenshots, stories and group chats – but they land best when you keep things light, kind and clearly “for fun only”.

  • Include a caption like “vibes-only, not medical advice” when posting publicly.
  • Avoid using the score to tease or shame anyone else – low-vibe days are normal.
  • Use the number as a conversation starter: “My vibes are 43 today, I need memes and snacks.”
  • Pair results with a short reflection – “Score: 78, I’ll finally tackle that one task today.”

If you notice multiple low-vibe days in a row, treat the pattern as a gentle nudge to rest, hydrate, move your body and maybe talk to someone you trust.
